MAX Function VS MAXA Function?

We are very similar to the MAX Function. But do you know the MAXA Function? And what’s the difference between the MAX Function and MAXA Function? Let’s check it out.

At first, we need to know the syntaxes of the MAX Function and MAXA Function.

MAX

=MAX (number 1, [number 2],…)

MAXA

=MAXA (value1, [value2],…)

Let’s guess if MAX and MAXA have the same result?

The MAX Function gets the result 0.8, but MAXA gets 1.

But there isn’t number 1 in area A2:A9. That’s because TRUE=1, FALSE =0 in the computation rule of the MAXA Function. And the MAX Function would ignore this.

In addition, blank cells would be ignored and text format would return 0 in both MAXA Function and MAX Function.
