How to Preserve Moisture at Air-conditioned Office in Winter

It’s cold and dry winter again, for sedentary office workers like us, turning on the air-conditioning seems like the only way to keep warm except for wearing thick clothes. But working in an air-conditioned office, the indoor heating will take away the moisture, and you must face the computer screen for all day. Your skin is very easy to get dry unless you use some effective tips to preserve moisture.

1. Maintain Environment Humidity

The research found that when the indoor temperature is 18℃ ~25℃, humidity is 45% ~65%, people’s body and mind will be in the best state.

So no matter in your home or office, you can put a small humidifier to increase the humidity of environment. It can greatly improve the environment of an air conditioning room and make you feel better.

2. Hydrate Your Skin

Keep a moisture spray on your desk and use it when feeling dry on your face. It can moisturize your skin quickly. And the recommended frequency is about 3 times a day.

Compared to facial skin, the body skin is covered by thick clothes, so you don’t have to worry about the sunburn. But it can be very dry at the same time, which is due to both the weather and the fact that your body is always rubbing against the fabric of cloths. In this case, a moist body lotion is very necessary.

The best time to apply body lotion is after a shower, especially after an exfoliating session. At this time your skin is very soft, and the moist ingredients are the most easy to infiltrate, instead of just floating on the surface.

And don’t forget your hands. Put a hand cream on your desk (and remember to put it in your bag when you go out), apply it after washing your hands or whenever your hands are dry.

3. Do Appropriate Exercise

When the weather gets cold, many people just want to rest in the warm air-conditioned room and greatly reducing activity. In fact, people should also do exercise in winter.

Sports like mountain climbing, aerobics, etc. can not only help you keep fit, but also promote your blood circulation to keep out the cold. And the sweat hyaluronic acid, it will automatically moisturize your skin.

4. Sipping Water

You should drink enough water to prevent dehydration, of course. But when drinking, it is better to drink small amount of water for multiple times than drink too much at once, otherwise the body cannot effectively absorb, especially for the people who has poor circulation. It can even cause local oedema.

5. Green Plants

Have an aquatic plants on your desk, like money plant, lucky bamboo, daffodils, etc. or keep two small goldfishes in a small aquarium with hydrocotyle verticillata. The naturally evaporated water vapor can increase the local environment humidity, form a natural “oxygen bar”, and the green plants can also alleviate your eye fatigue.

6. Fresh Fruits & Veggies

It’s not just the outer layer of your skin needs to be hydrated in the dry winter weather. Only when the water inside your body is enough, your skin can be tender and shiny. So, try eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, the moisture in them will permeate to your skin and keep it hydrated.
